A textbox allows you to enter text. Screen readers call these "edits". Type any text, but don't press enter, because it may submit the form.
A textarea is a textbox that allows multiple lines of text. Pressing enter will start a new line. Only some screen readers will indicate that it is multi-line.
A button triggers an action, such as submitting a form. Press spacebar to click it.
A disclosure button shows or hides content. A screen reader will say "collapsed" or "expanded". Press spacebar to click it and then down arrow to read the content.
A menu button shows a menu. A screen reader will say "collapsed" or "expanded". Press spacebar to open the menu, up or down arrow to move between menu items, enter to activate one, or escape to close them menu.
A checkbox allows you to make a simple yes/no choice. A screen reader will say "checked" or "not checked". Press spacebar to check or uncheck it.
A toggle button is basically another kind of checkbox. A screen reader will say "pressed" or "not pressed". Press spacebar to change it.
A switch is also another kind of checkbox. A screen reader will say "on" or "off". Press spacebar to change it.
Radio buttons allow you to pick one of several options. Press spacebar to check one and up or down arrow to change which one is checked.
A select-only combobox allows you to pick one (or more) of several options in a list. Screen readers may say "collapsed" or "expanded". Press down arrow to move between the options and enter to select one. You can also press enter or alt + down arrow to expand the list of options and escape to close it.
An editable combobox (edit combo) lets you enter a value or pick from a list. Press alt + down arrow to open the list, up or down arrow to move between options, enter to pick one, or escape to close the list.
A spinbox lets you type a number or press up or down arrows to increase or decrease the value.
A slider lets you use arrow keys to increase or decrease a value.
A date picker is a special kind of combobox that lets you enter a date or pick one from a calendar. The date may be broken into three parts, month, day, and year, each presented as a spinbox. Press alt + down arrow to open the calendar, arrow keys to move between dates, enter to pick one, or escape to close the calendar.
A dialog is a window that opens in front of the main page. When a dialog is open, you cannot read or interact with anything behind it. Press down arrow or tab to read within the dialog and escape to close it.
